Atlanta based artist Jarryd Sol, has been an artist on our radar for quite some time. His work is very unique and memorable.
In an interview with Salt Newspaper, Jarryd recollected that he discovered his talents while "I worked with other mediums such as charcoal sketching, but I purchased all the software I felt I needed and self taught myself. I originally did pictures of random things like animals but moved to celebrity portraits to get traffic. I do major celebs because that’s what people wanna see, but I do up and coming celebrities because their more likely to repost and give credit."
What goes into his decision process?
"The first step is finding a high quality picture that exposes the lines and facial features of my subject. From there it usually takes me about 3-5 hours of tracing, shading and sculpting their face. It really just depends on the features of the person’s face. I typically take breaks in between working hours because staring at a screen after long periods of time strains your eyes and your vision becomes a little distorted."
He mentioned that his goals are to be a creative force behind marketing companies and arts campaigns, ranging from album art work to books.
We look forward to seeing more from this artist!
