This is an amazing team! We happen to came across their work while in Columbus, Ohio a few years ago and have been following them ever since. Based in Portland, Oregon, Jon Stommel and Travis Czekalski are the team behind “Rather Severe” . We started working together on murals and animations while attending the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio. After graduating with our BFA’s, we began working together professionally to bring our combined aesthetic styles to the worlds of murals, illustration, animation, and public art. Together we’ve made work for City Target in downtown Portland, the Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Dublin branch, four Mellow Mushroom restaurants in three states, The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Sacramento Elementary School in Portland, Taft Elementary School in Lincoln City, and several other non-profit community organizations in Ohio, Oregon, and Washington. We’ve won First Prize in Clark County Mural Society’s Summer of Murals Competition for the past two years consecutively, for murals honoring the Chinook Native Tribe, and the Vancouver Farmers Market respectively. We will continue working together on illustrations and public art throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond, and constantly strengthen our ability to create works of art that inspire the community and enrich the experience of being in public spaces!
Charlie Hebdo revealed their cover image for this week's issue, printed just days after two gunmen opened fire on the newspaper's office in Paris, killing 12 people. Four of the Charlie's cartoonists were killed in the attack.
The cover shows the Prophet Muhammad holding a "Je Suis Charlie" sign with the caption, "All is forgiven."
The newspaper said that it will print over 1 million copies this week, with financial help from Google, Le Monde and other organizations. They may even print an extra 2 million depending on the demand. It usually prints around 60,000.
Here is an awesome website to go to make some pretty creative art work or just kill some some, weavesilk.com, does a great job! We just hope they a few more colors! Enjoy!
