Let me share how Shaun and his team came up with the idea for Millenefits:
As part of my daily routine, I woke up, dropped the kids off at daycare, and headed to Starbucks. Mike, the friendliest barista you'll ever meet, served me my coffee, the same coffee I get every morning - venti dark roast, no room. I thanked Mike and Mike said "See you tomorrow."
Later that day, I grabbed lunch at a local sandwich shop. And as I looked up from multi-tasking on my phone, Mike smiled, gave me my sandwich, and said "see you tomorrow, Shaun." I couldn't think of what to say because it was an "out of context" kind of moment. Mike is now the friendliest barista AND friendliest sandwich guy you'll ever meet. So I asked Mike, "why do you work two jobs?" Mike responded "I work at Starbucks for benefits and I work here to make a living." Now, my jaw dropped and my eyes bulged because the light bulb exploded in my head.
People work just for the benefits!
Many of us work 9-5 jobs but don't receive benefits. And many of us are willing to work 5-9 (AM or PM) for benefits! We work for wages at one job and can now work for benefits at Millenefits. Thank you, Mike, for showing us a new way of working!
