Cadia: The World Within is the story of Matthew, David, and Renee Addams, three fourteen-year-olds whose journey into a mystical realm teaches them about grace, love, doubt, and the nature of good versus evil. Cadia makes for an entertaining and emotionally uplifting fantasy, one that provides hope and encourages philosophical discussion on how we interact with the world around us. Check out the trailer down below, beneath that you can check out the link to see the movie along with a Q&A with the creators of the movie. Update: Hours after posting, Cadia released their final official trailer, we have linked that down below instead of the teaser trailer. (Frameline) Sad-eyed and secretive, Ramin (Arash Marandi, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night) is a lost soul, an Iranian man who has escaped persecution in Tehran and wound up, without intending it, in the Mexican port of Veracruz. His options are limited to hard labor—chopping pineapples in the field, smashing cement walls on construction sites—while trying to learn Spanish from Leti (Flor Eduarda Gurrola), the heartbroken young woman who runs the small hotel where he lives, and cruising for anonymous sex in dark alleys. Though he pines for a boyfriend he left behind, he finds himself drawn to Guillermo (Luis Alberti, Eisenstein in Guanajuato, Frameline39), an inscrutable ex-con with a body full of bullet holes. Check out the trailer for Fireflies: Beautifully shot by Iranian-born, Texas-raised Bani Khoshnoudi, who lends striking attention to detail in nearly every frame, Fireflies won the top prize in the Ibero-American Competition at the Miami Film Festival. A sensitive portrait of a gay man in exile, Fireflies shows us a world where borders can’t always be crossed and our scars tell our stories.
