Ameer Vann is an up and coming artist in California that we wanted to highlight. Watch his music video for his self entitled album 'Emmanuel' - which means 'God is with us' in the bible.
Born during one of his mother’s three prison sentences, and raised around drugs, alcohol and prostitution
until the age of five, SleekoGotBars’s struggles are something that influence his music, but his approach to
amplifying these struggles is what sets him apart from other rappers. “Some run away from the pain of the
struggle and indulge in drugs and hide behind face tattoos. I’m giving you free game on how to maneuver
around the road blocks life puts in your way because I’ve experienced all of it,” said Sleeko.
Raised in Dayton, Ohio, music was always a part of SleekoGotBars’s DNA. Both of his parents sang lead vocals
in rock bands, and he grew up with everything from Nirvana to Jay-Z blaring out of the speakers in his home.
At age thirteen, after being taken to a recording studio by a friend, he began making music. Not too long after
Sleeko went through a rebellious stage and was suspended from school. He was then forced to choose
between rap music and his home. Sleeko ultimately chose his passion and found himself homeless, moving
around from couch to couch because of it. This didn’t stop him from going to school, working at McDonald’s
and continuing to make music though.
With a razor sharp delivery and a rapid fire flow, Sleeko is inspired by early T.I. and Lil Wayne, Freddy Mercury
and Chad Bennington. In 2010, under the moniker of Young Dash, Sleeko released his first mixtape, Life On The
Edge, and followed that project up with projects in 2011, 2012, and 2014 (projects in 2012 and 2014 were
released under the name Sleeko Dash).
SleekoGotBars has performed at a number of venues in and outside of Dayton including: The Foundry, The
Venue, Skully’s Music-Diner, and The Dayton Convention Center.
Sleeko recently released a new project titled, Good Spirits, Bad Vibes. Stay tuned and find out more by

Chop is a rapper under DaBaby's brand 'Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment' and you can see that they come from similar roots in this video. They show out for Charlotte in the video along with featuring some other locals from the area. We might've found a new vein of hip hop talent budding from the southern city.
DaBaby is having quite the summer, after coming onto the scene out of North Carolina he released 'Baby on Baby' and got a chart topper with 'Suge'. After all that he recently got into a fight at a Louis Vuitton, which he obviously took inspiration for in this music video, parodying it in the video.
