Macklemore and Ryan Lewis take a stand in one of the greatest Civil Rights issues of our time. The two address cultural appropriate, and address self-interests, authenticity, and so much more. Macklemore references Miley Cyrus and Iggy Azalea in a lyric about cultural appropriation, listing them, along with Elvis Presley. The track is off of the duo's upcoming album, "This Unruly Mess I've Made." It is also available for free download here.
From Macklemore's website: This song is the outcome of an ongoing dialogue with musicians, activists, and teachers within our community in Seattle and beyond. Their work and engagement was essential to the creative process. |
