The origin story
According to Wikipedia, 2Slimey is from Midwest City, Oklahoma, and now based in Los Angeles. He first released boom-bap as GGS, then discovered SoundCloud-era rap through Smokepurpp, Lil Pump and XXXTentacion. He began releasing as 2Slimey in 2021.
The sound
Complex describes a neo-jerk, hyperpop-influenced, bass-heavy sound with extreme distortion, and cites Playboi Carti and Yeat among his influences. Some listeners compare it to noise music more than conventional rap, and critics are split, which is part of the appeal.
