Can CapitalOS Turn Every B2B Software Platform Into a Fintech? Startup Raises $21.9M Series A

LGVP leads the round for the startup, whose AI agents handle underwriting, compliance and fraud so vertical SaaS platforms can launch cards and bill pay in days.

CapitalOS, a startup that helps software platforms offer financial products to their business customers, has raised $21.9 million in Series A funding led by LGVP. WEX Venture Capital, Group11, Great North Ventures, Night Capital and several existing investors also participated, Axios Pro reported.

The company is led by co-founder and CEO Nir Dremer, a former general manager at Stripe and Tipalti, and co-founder Matan Goldschmidt, who previously built consumer products at Lyft after it acquired his earlier startup.

What CapitalOS Does

CapitalOS calls itself a money orchestration layer for B2B platforms. Vertical software companies, the kind that run property management, field services or restaurants, increasingly want to offer business credit cards and bill pay to their customers. Building that in-house means taking on underwriting, capital, compliance and fraud risk, a heavy lift for a company whose expertise is somewhere else entirely.

CapitalOS handles that work through five specialized AI agents. An underwriting agent approves eligible businesses and adjusts credit limits based on activity. A capital agent funds transactions directly, so the platform does not need to put up its own money. A compliance agent handles KYC, KYB, licensing and ongoing monitoring. A risk and fraud agent blocks suspicious activity, and a support agent answers cardholder questions by phone, text and email.

The company says platforms can go live in days. It serves more than 25,000 cardholders across dozens of B2B platforms, and transaction volume has grown 1,000% over the past 18 months, according to its announcement. Property management platform Guesty is a customer.

"Vertical SaaS and AI platforms are experts in their domains, not building payments infrastructure," Dremer said.

Where the Money Goes

CapitalOS plans to use the funding to expand its engineering team and grow its suite of out-of-the-box financial products.

Why It Matters Now

Can every software platform become a fintech? Embedded finance has promised that for years, but the first wave of providers mostly handed platforms the building blocks and left them to manage the risk. CapitalOS is betting that AI agents can take over the operational burden that kept many platforms on the sidelines.

The incentive is real on both sides. Software companies that add cards and payments can earn interchange revenue and make their products harder to leave. Small businesses, which often lack dedicated finance staff, get spend controls built into software they already use instead of reimbursing employees for purchases on personal cards.

"The best B2B platforms act on their customers' behalf, and few actions matter more than financial ones," said LGVP general partner Itai Tsiddon. Participation from WEX's venture arm adds a strategic payments investor to the cap table, and Dremer's Stripe background gives the company credibility with platforms that have watched payments become a core revenue line.

The test ahead is credit. Funding transactions directly means CapitalOS carries real balance-sheet exposure, and its underwriting agents will need to manage risk through a downturn as well as they manage growth.
