CHA$EMONEY: Detroit Rapper Who Started at Youngstown State Sets the Mood With ‘All About Da Vibe’

Music began as an outlet during a college football career in Ohio. Now it is the main event.

CHA$EMONEY found music in Youngstown. The Detroit independent artist started recording while playing football at Youngstown State University, using music as a personal outlet off the field.

The outlet became the focus. “All About Da Vibe,” a full-length project, shows where that path led: hip-hop and R&B built to be authentic and relatable, with “Pretty Body” as the standout track.

It is a familiar Midwest route. An athlete leaves home, finds a second voice in a college town, and brings it back to the city that raised him. For CHA$EMONEY, the Detroit-to-Youngstown connection is part of the story the music tells.

Metro Times included the artist in its 2026 Metro Detroit Music Issue.

“All About Da Vibe” is streaming now.
