What happens in the "STORM" video?
Part I is rebellion: disorder spreading through the student body. Part II turns stylized and euphoric, built on unity, music and tightly choreographed movement. One reviewer called it a controlled descent into chaos. GENER8ION posted the film to YouTube on April 24, 2026. It runs about seven and a half minutes, long enough to play like a short film rather than a promo, and the boarding-school setting gives every act of rebellion a uniform to push against.
Who is GENER8ION?
GENER8ION is an audiovisual project by French producer and visual artist Surkin and director Romain Gavras. Gavras, the son of filmmaker Costa-Gavras, is behind some of the most talked-about videos of the past two decades, including Justice's "Stress," M.I.A.'s "Born Free" and "Bad Girls" and Jay-Z and Kanye West's "No Church in the Wild," as well as the 2022 film Athena.

Released in April 2026, the film drew millions of YouTube views within weeks. Yung Lean and GENER8ION later recreated it live at the 2026 MTV VMAs.
Was "STORM" nominated at the VMAs?
Yes. The video earned nominations for Video of the Year, Best Direction and Best Choreography at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, held September 27 in Los Angeles. It went home without a trophy, but it still delivered one of the night's moments: Yung Lean rushed the stage in a bloodied shirt, destroyed a Moon Person and led 66 dancers through Damien Jalet's choreography, swapping the film's cigarette for an ice cream cone.
