Julia Wolf Is in the Deep End — and She's Never Sounded More Alive

The New York alt-pop force returns with her most emotionally charged single yet, a nearly sold-out world tour on deck, and a Lollapalooza slot to boot.

There's a particular kind of emotional vertigo that comes with loving someone more than is good for you — and Julia Wolf has just written the definitive song about it.

"Deep End" is Julia Wolf's first single of her own in just over a year, and it feels like the start of a very special new chapter — an atmospheric, off-kilter, jangly mesh of sounds and sentiments, rooted in the feeling of keeping a fire burning in whatever way possible.

In her own words, "'Deep End' is about the confusion of someone's mind and the way I'd drown to keep a connection alive, while going through the distractions and doubt I experience in the process." That tension sits at the centre of the track — not over-explaining the collapse, but holding the feeling in close detail: doubt, distraction, emotional overcommitment, and the blurred line between devotion and self-erasure.

The official music video, directed by Lucy Sandler, extends that world while keeping the focus on Wolf's writing: heavy, lived-in, and sharp enough to sting.

The dazzling drop follows previous singles "My Way" and "With Me," and precedes what is shaping up to be Wolf's biggest year yet. The Deep End World Tour — a 43-date run across North America and Europe — kicks off July 31 in Chicago and runs through December 4 in Berlin, with Bee Blackwell and SCRO serving as opening acts. The tour is already nearly sold out, and Wolf is set to perform at Lollapalooza in July and Hinterland Music Festival in August before the headline run begins. Columbus fans take note — she hits Newport Music Hall on October 9.
