Kansas City Startup Treso Raises $3.75 Million to Fix the Money Mess Inside Doctors' Offices

Backed by Redesign Health, the fintech is building a free financial operating system for independent physician practices, launching in December.

Independent doctors spend years training to practice medicine, then spend a startling share of their week chasing payments, paying vendors and reconciling receipts. A Kansas City startup called Treso just raised fresh capital to take that work off their plates.

Treso has raised $3.75 million in a round led by Redesign Health, with participation from Locke Health and KCRise Fund, MobiHealthNews reported exclusively. The company is building a financial management platform made specifically for healthcare providers, and it plans to launch in December 2026.

What Treso Does

Treso bundles accounting, receivables, expense management, procurement and business intelligence with banking and financial products in a single system. The target customer is the independent physician practice, a segment that often runs on a patchwork of spreadsheets, legacy billing tools and consumer-grade banking.

One of the headline features is a business spending card that can issue virtual cards for specific vendors, set spending limits and use AI to match receipts to transactions automatically. "A swipe of the card is really all you need to get started," co-founder and CEO Ryan Greenhaw told the outlet.

The platform also includes spending analytics that let practices track their own spending and benchmark it against other practices. Treso says future tools will forecast cash flow and expenses using a practice's spending and collections data.

The Free-Software Play

Treso's core product will be free. That is a familiar strategy in modern fintech: give away the software, then earn on the financial products layered on top. The company has already set up banking partnerships to support funding for its financial programs.

"Every bit of flow of money and exchange of money has value," Greenhaw said, summing up the thesis. If Treso can sit in the middle of a practice's payments, it can build a business around the volume moving through it rather than charging doctors a subscription.

Why Independent Practices Need Help

Independent practices face pressure from all sides: rising operating costs, slow insurance reimbursements and competition from hospital systems and private equity-backed groups that have far bigger back offices. Financial visibility is often the difference between staying independent and selling out.

Redesign Health, the lead investor, is known for building and backing healthcare companies, which gives Treso a strategic partner with deep industry networks as it prepares to go to market.

What Comes Next

The immediate priority is people. "I need to build out an awesome team for one," Greenhaw said. With the December launch approaching, Treso will need to prove that busy practice managers will switch financial tools, and that a free product can turn into a durable revenue engine.

For healthcare fintech watchers, the round is a small but telling signal: investors still see room for vertical financial software built around one industry's specific workflows.
