Nous Raises $17M to Take Its Household AI Agent Beyond the UK
Heartcore Capital and Mosaic Ventures back the London startup whose agent switches bills, cancels subscriptions and handles family admin.
London-based Nous has raised $17 million to expand its household AI agent outside the UK, The Next Web reports. Heartcore Capital and existing seed backer Mosaic Ventures provided the funding, with participation from Chalfen Ventures, Joyance Partners and Bain Future Back Ventures.
Angel investors include Tom Blomfield, co-founder of Monzo and GoCardless; Brent Hoberman of Founders Factory; and Marc Warner, co-founder of Faculty. Nous previously raised a $9 million seed round in 2022.
An Agent That Acts, Not Just Advises
Nous was founded in 2021 by CEO Greg Marsh, who previously co-founded luxury home rental marketplace onefinestay, which Accor acquired in 2016. The company builds an AI agent that acts on users' behalf rather than only making suggestions.
The agent switches households to cheaper car insurance, energy, broadband and mobile deals; cancels subscriptions and fills in forms; flags expensive contract terms and renewals; and keeps family calendars, finds local tradespeople and books appointments.
Nous uses large language models for most tasks but switches to fixed rules for sensitive money decisions to reduce errors. It is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority, which lets it handle regulated products such as insurance, and it says it does not sell customer data or earn from advertising. The service left beta in 2025.
The Numbers
According to the company, almost 250,000 UK homes use Nous, with a new home joining every minute. The agent manages about £2,765 ($3,703) of each home's yearly spending, more than £685 million ($917 million) in total, and a typical household saves £734 ($983) on bills.
"This isn't a toy for tech bros," Marsh said, adding: "The vast majority of our users are women, typically working mums."
What the Funding Will Do
Over the next year, Nous plans to take its agent outside the UK, cover more spending categories, expand regulated work including wider insurance and other financial services, and add tools for everyday chores.
Marsh estimates UK homes' automatic payments at £1.7 trillion a year and predicts agents will manage more than half of that within ten years.
