Roleo Raises ~$3.2M Seed Led by Practica Capital for AI Career Agent
Veriff and Wise alumni are building a free AI agent that quietly matches tech talent with hiring managers, with employers paying for access.
Tallinn-based Roleo, developer of a personal AI career agent for tech professionals, has raised €2.9 million (about $3.2 million) in a seed round led by Baltic venture capital firm Practica Capital. The raise was first reported by Estonian outlet Äritehnoloogia.ee. The company did not disclose a valuation.
Nordic VC Inventure participated, along with angel investors including Bolt founder Markus Villig, Sergei Anikin, former Wise executive Henrik Bohman and Kristina Lilleõis, CPO at Hedosophia, plus Lemonade Stand. According to The Recursive, the round brings Roleo's total funding to €3.46 million (about $3.9 million).
Founders From Veriff and Wise
Roleo is led by co-founder and CEO Janer Gorohhov, who previously co-founded identity verification company Veriff. Co-founder Vahur Hansen was part of Wise's early engineering team and previously co-founded Membo. Both are Y Combinator alumni, ArcticStartup reported.
How the Career Agent Works
The agent is free for professionals and runs in the background. It learns a user's experience, goals, salary expectations and preferences, monitors the European tech market, and connects matching candidates directly with hiring managers without a formal job application. Users control their visibility and personal information. Revenue comes from employers, who get access to qualified candidates who may not be actively looking.
The company says the agent evaluates hundreds of thousands of opportunities each week and typically surfaces three per user. Since the start of 2026, it has connected users with 30,000 opportunities they explored further. Users include professionals from Google, Amazon, Stripe and Spotify, per Tech.eu.
“Most people spend years building their careers, but only actively manage them when something goes wrong,” Gorohhov said.
Use of Funds and the Investor View
Roleo will use the capital to develop the AI agent and expand across European markets, starting with tech professionals and companies, and, per Tech.eu, to extend the product beyond job matching toward longer-term career development.
Donatas Keras, a partner at Practica Capital, said “we believe they are the team best positioned to set a new standard for how people build their careers.” Lilleõis framed the problem from the hiring side: “So much talent is missed because the best candidates aren’t actively applying.”
Why It Matters
Roleo is betting on the passive candidate, the professional who is not applying but would move for the right role. By making the agent free for job seekers and charging employers, it is building a two-sided marketplace in which the supply of strong candidates is the product employers pay for. That makes user trust, and the control over visibility the company emphasizes, central to the model.
Team pedigree carries much of this round. Keras cited the founders' operational experience, Bolt founder Markus Villig pointed to Gorohhov's work building Veriff and Hansen's at Wise, and the angel list draws from the same Estonian and Nordic scale-up circle. That network matters for a recruiting product whose first market is European tech talent.
The 30,000 opportunities explored since January signals engagement, but Roleo has not disclosed placements, employer customers or revenue. Those figures, and whether the agent extends credibly into broader career management, will determine how the next round is priced.
