Wazir Patar at Rolling Loud India 2026: The Punjabi Producer-Rapper Behind Moose Wala's "The Last Ride"
Beatmaker first, mic star second, and one of Punjabi hip-hop's most distinctive sonic architects.
Some artists you know by voice. Wazir Patar you know by feel: the thick low end, the Punjabi folk textures, the boom-bap snap. On Sunday, December 13, the producer-turned-rapper takes the stage at Rolling Loud India in Mumbai, and his set is a great chance to learn who's been shaping Punjabi hip-hop from behind the board.
Behind the camera, then behind the board
Wazir told Homegrown that he started out shooting videos with his brother in Punjab, then spent about a year teaching himself sound engineering, which pulled him into production. He names Dr. Dre and Bohemia as influences, and his music blends traditional Punjabi elements with classic hip-hop textures like boom-bap drums.
The Moose Wala connection
Wazir's production credits include Sidhu Moose Wala's 2021 tracks "GOAT" and "Malwa Block," as well as "The Last Ride" (2022), according to the Moose Wala discography. IANS reports that "The Last Ride," which Wazir produced, was the final song the late star recorded. He also created the soundtrack for the Netflix series Kohrra, according to IANS.
Records to know
WZR TANK (2025). His debut EP dropped in August 2025 alongside a mini-documentary. The visual theme is a year-long restoration of a 1990 Mercedes W124 E300 Turbo Diesel, used as a metaphor for his creative process. Guests include Roop Bhullar, Hukam and Santali, and tracks like the title cut and "AMG" lean into the idea of building your own lane.
Keep It Gangsta. A five-track Def Jam India EP he produced himself, with "Feel," "Pind Da Riwaaz," "Tattoo," "Chup Chup" and "Wapis Mud De Nai." Per IANS, it features Indian instruments prominently and draws on life and culture in Majha.
Why catch the set
Day two is stacked with Karan Aujla, Skepta and Seedhe Maut up top, and Wazir adds the Punjabi producer's perspective: heavy, handmade and proud of where it comes from. If you want to hear the sound behind much of modern Punjabi rap, performed by the person who built it, this is the slot.
