Wyre AI, a construction technology startup using AI to read the mountain of documents that come before a building goes up, has raised $5 million in pre-seed and seed funding led by Ironspring Ventures.

WND Ventures, the corporate venture arm of general contractor DPR Construction, and the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation also invested. Angel backers include Motif CEO and former Autodesk co-CEO Amar Hanspal, Egnyte co-founder Rajesh Ram and Joseph Khoury, co-founder and vice president of preconstruction at MCN Build.

A Repeat Founder Returns to Construction

Wyre is led by Sunil Dorairajan, who previously founded Pype, a construction document automation company that Autodesk acquired in 2020. Before building software, Dorairajan spent a decade working in preconstruction and operations himself.

That experience shapes his view of the problem. Preconstruction teams still sift through drawings, specifications and contracts by hand, often under tight bid deadlines, and a single missed requirement can turn into a costly change order later.

"The job hasn't fundamentally changed. A few people read thousands of pages under a deadline and hope nothing gets missed," Dorairajan said. "That isn't a staffing problem—it's a technology problem."

Two Products

Wyre offers two tools. Wyre Scopes uses machine learning to analyze project documents and identify the scope of work for each trade. Wyre Check is an AI service that detects clashes and conflicts across documents and shop drawings before they reach the field.

The company has roughly a dozen contractor customers at various stages of deployment, including Rycon Construction, Engineering News-Record reported.

"Whether you're onboarding a new APM or managing concurrent buyouts, it makes the whole team efficient," said Dylan John of Rycon Construction.

Ironspring Ventures focuses on the industrial economy, including construction and supply chain. WND Ventures gives Wyre a direct line to one of the largest general contractors in the country, a meaningful advantage in an industry where adoption often depends on trust and references.

Why It Matters

Construction remains one of the least digitized major industries, and preconstruction is where many of its costliest mistakes begin. Scope gaps and document conflicts that slip past the bid stage show up later as delays, disputes and budget overruns.

Large language models are well suited to reading dense, text-heavy documents at scale, and a wave of startups is now applying them to construction paperwork. Wyre's edge is a founder who has already sold a company into this exact workflow, and a cap table stacked with people who know how contractors buy software.
