"We are Los Angeles. We are Angelenos. We are Americans. Some of us born here, some of us migrated here. We are a great country and our borders should be protected. You would think that the idea of border control would make residents feel safe - but it's pumped fear into our communities. They're going after people that make our city beautiful. People who put food in our supermarkets, take care of other people's kids, work two to three jobs so they can take care of their families. It breaks my heart. I wanted to make this video to change the vibe and celebrate the folks that make our cities great. The very same people who are being disregarded, dehumanized, and demoralized."

Babyface Ray is a Detroit rapper, born Marcellus Rayvon Register, and "Netflix & Chill" is one of his smooth, late-night records, paired with a new music video. He is one of the defining voices of 2020s Michigan rap, and this visual adds to a catalog built on calm delivery over trap-leaning production.

Who is Babyface Ray?

Babyface Ray was born February 7, 1991, in Detroit and is also known simply as Face. As a youth he played basketball and football and also played trumpet. In 2010 he joined Team Eastside alongside fellow Detroit rapper Peezy.

He gained traction with the 2015 mixtape MIA Season, and 2019's MIA Season 2 produced his first viral song, a TikTok hit about moving to Los Angeles.

What is Babyface Ray's career highlight reel?

The February 2021 EP Unfuckwitable featured EST Gee, Moneybagg Yo and Kash Doll. His debut album Face followed on January 28, 2022, and peaked at No. 31 on the Billboard 200, with guests including Yung Lean, G Herbo, 42 Dugg, Pusha T and Wiz Khalifa. He joined XXL's Freshman class later in 2022.

Mob (December 2022), Summer's Mine (July 2023), The Kid That Did (September 2024) and Codeine Cowboy (August 2025) kept the output steady. Singles including "Real N***as Don't Rap," "What Business Is," "Family > Money" and "Ron Artest" with 42 Dugg earned RIAA certifications.

What is the 'Netflix & Chill' video?

"Netflix & Chill" is a Babyface Ray song with an official music video. Public details on its release date, director and album placement are limited, so this page sticks to what can be verified: it belongs to a body of work that favors mood and cadence over bombast.

For new listeners, the video is a low-pressure entry point to Detroit's current rap sound, and the albums above show how far that sound travels from there.
