Playboi Carti's "2024" was produced by F1lthy, Ojivolta, Earl on the Beat and Kanye West. Fans also know it as "Put Em on the News," after its most quoted line.

Who produced "2024"?

Four producers are credited: F1lthy, Ojivolta, Earl on the Beat and Kanye West. The writing credits list Carti (Jordan Carter) with Mark Williams, Raul Cubina, Isaac Bynum, West and Yeo Choong.

What does "2024" sample?

The vocal sample comes from "Jacob's Ladder," a 2013 song by Yeo, which is why Yeo Choong appears in the writing credits.

When did "2024" come out?

Carti released it on December 14, 2023 as a YouTube-only single. It did not reach streaming services until March 25, 2025, when it appeared on the expanded edition of his album Music, titled Music – Sorry 4 Da Wait.

Carti and his crew dance through a garage and a gas station parking lot, with his cars and designer luggage on display. Kanye West and ASAP Nast both appear.

Why is the song called "2024"?

Carti never spelled it out, but the timing did the talking. He dropped the song in December 2023, with fans still waiting on the follow-up to 2020's Whole Lotta Red, and the title landed like a promise about the year ahead. That album, Music, did not arrive until March 14, 2025.

Was the "2024" video taken down?

Briefly. In July 2024 the video vanished from YouTube after a copyright claim from Believe Music. Fans took it as one more sign of delays, joking that he would re-release it as "2027." It was restored soon after.

How was "2024" received?

Critics were warm. Complex ranked it first among Carti's pre-Music songs and singled out the beat as one of the prettiest he had rapped over in years, while HotNewHipHop said it brought back the dreamy, nocturnal feel of his Cash Carti era. When Music finally landed, it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 298,000 units, and all 30 songs on the standard edition entered the Hot 100 at once, a first for a rapper. "2024" joined later as track 32 on the deluxe edition.
