Teezo Touchdown: How a Beaumont, Texas Oddball Became Rap's Favorite Feature

From Beaumont to Tyler, Travis and Drake features, and a staged wedding that set up his second album.

Teezo Touchdown is Aaron Lashane Thomas, a rapper, singer and producer from Beaumont, Texas, best known for stealing scenes on records by Tyler, The Creator, Travis Scott and Drake. Now he is stepping back into the lead role with Casting Call, the follow-up to his 2023 debut, How Do You Sleep at Night?

Beaumont roots

Thomas learned to DJ and produce on his father's equipment and was posting songs to YouTube in high school under names like AyeTee and Teezo Suave. He settled on Teezo Touchdown in 2016, dropped the mixtapes The Example and Cover Boy in 2018, and still shoots most of his videos in Beaumont. The 2019 track "100 Drums" with Coop drew co-signs from Chance the Rapper and Trippie Redd, putting his genre-blurring sound on the radar.

The features that made him

The breakout came in 2021 on "RunItUp" from Tyler, The Creator's Call Me If You Get Lost, which went gold, and Teezo joined Tyler on tour. In 2023 he surfaced on Travis Scott's "Modern Jam" from Utopia, another gold record, and on "Amen" from Drake's For All the Dogs, which reached No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. He returned to Tyler's orbit on "Darling, I" from Chromakopia in 2024 and has also appeared alongside Lil Yachty, Don Toliver and Doja Cat. He keeps lending himself out, too, from Audrey Nuna's "Starving" onward.

How Do You Sleep at Night?

His debut album arrived on September 8, 2023, via Not Fit for Society and RCA Records. The 14-track set featured Janelle Monáe, Fousheé and Isaiah Rusk, and Drake publicly praised it as some of the best music he had heard. The rollout leaned into Teezo's theatrical streak, from "I'm Just a Fan" to the "Waist Snatched" video.

"Honeymoon Night" and the wedding that wasn't

The first single from Casting Call, "Honeymoon Night," landed in early October 2026 as a late-night R&B slow jam. Teezo paired it with a run of wedding-themed clips, including a bride fitting, a first-dance rehearsal and a pre-wedding photoshoot, which had fans asking whether he had actually gotten married. He had not. The videos credit a full cast, and the bride is played by Los Angeles makeup artist Jazzmin Oddie. The staged ceremony doubles as a neat setup for an album called Casting Call.

What we know about Casting Call

A 12-song tracklist surfaced in late August with a "dropping soon" tease, and "Honeymoon Night" is the first official single. No release date or guest features have been announced as of this writing. Our Casting Call release tracker will be updated the moment a date is confirmed.
