The two recently wrapped individual tours that supported their latest albums: Jay closed out 52 dates for his “Magna Carta… Holy Grail” in January, while Bey wrapped her “Mrs. Carter Show” tour in March. The couple has performed their hit single, “Drunk in Love,” together at a string of high-profile shows, including this year’s Grammy Awards, a DirecTV Super Bowl party and Beyoncé’s O2 Arena gig in London on Feb. 28. Miami Police Department public information officer Rene Pimentel told USA TODAY Sports earlier Thursday the investigation was for sexual assault but made a clarification saying the investigation being conducted by the Special Victims Unit is for a suspicious incident. The investigation was originally reported by TMZ. "There are no charges, definitely not. There is an investigation," Pimentel told USA TODAY Sports. According to an incident report obtained by USA TODAY Sports, the alleged incident took place April 1 at the Viceroy hotel in downtown Miami. Ricardo Lockette, a Seattle Seahawks wide receiver, and Quinton Patton, a 49ers receiver, are listed as "persons involved" along with Kaepernick. According to the report, the alleged victim went to Lockette's apartment at the Viceroy where Kaepernick and Patton were watching a basketball game. The woman told police she knows Kaepernick and that they have had a "sexual relationship."  "With foreign policy dominating the headlines, I was sorry to see Chairman Paul Ryan's budget proposal include a significant cut of 11 percent for international affairs programs. This is particularly disappointing given the bipartisan omnibus agreement passed in January, protecting international affairs from further cuts. Fortunately, the all-important appropriations process kicks into high gear this week, and we will be working with our allies on the Hill to ensure higher funding levels to meet the many global challenges. Our hearts go out to family of John Pinette, a stand-up comedian born in Boston in 1964, as he passed away last night, at the age of 50. Pinette's film credits include roles in Junior (1994), The Punisher (2004) and The Last Godfather (2010). He starred in several specials, including Still Hungry (2011), I'm Starvin' (2006), SeinField, as well as hosting a comedy cooking show on H2 called All You Can Eat that aired in September 2013. He was also a staple at Canada's Just for Laughs festival. Celebrities of the comedian mourned Pinette's loss on twitter;

izify turns your social media data into interactive infographics, videos, and more. The company has been going to a significant growth in the past years, and last month announced that they were acquired by Yahoo. The specifics of the deal are not exactly known right now. Techcrunch.com reported, Vizify, a company founded in 2011, had raised $1.46 million in its life. Given that its last round of funding came in 2012, the timing of the exit-ish makes sense. The company would likely have needed to either raise more money, or find a new home. Yahoo has very welcome arms these days. Yahoo will shut down what the company built. The company will issue refunds to paying users. It is also not accepting more new user signups. Vizify is essentially no more. The price of of the acquisition was not made known, though we are looking into the matter. Given the size of the company in question, its past funding, and its likely product traction, this was a small deal for Yahoo. Here is the announcement that Vizify released on the website

Businesses added 192,000 jobs, fueled by strong gains in professional and business services and health and education. Private-sector payrolls have now exceeded their level in December 2007, when the Great Recession began. Employment for federal, state and local governments was unchanged. Also encouraging is that job gains for January and February were revised up by a total 37,000, meaning a winter of weak job growth was not as feeble as believed. January's was revised to 144,000 from 129,000 and February's to 197,000 from 175,000. Some other labor market indicators were also positive. The average workweek rose to 34.5 hours from 34.3 hours amid the better weather. Average hourly earnings dipped one cent, however, to $24.30. And the share of people working or looking for work rose to 63.2% from 63% in February and a historical low of 62.8% in December. The meager portion of people in the labor force has worried economists because while many of those dropping out were retiring Baby Boomers, a large number were discouraged workers. "It's a signal that (better job prospects) are bringing people back into the labor force," says economist James Marple of TD Economics. Also, the number of Americans out of work at least six months fell by 110,000 to 3.7 million, though they still comprise 36% of the unemployed A broader measure of joblessness that includes part-time employees who prefer full-time jobs and those who've given up looking for work, as well as the unemployed — ticked up to 12.7% from 12.6%. Many analysts had predicted the labor market would pick up substantially in March after cold and stormy weather helped hold down job gains to a monthly average of 141,000 from December through February. Employees who stayed home because of snow during parts of those months would likely be back at work, economists said, and firms would resume hiring that had been deferred. That largely is what happened, with the number of people who said they couldn't work because of weather falling to its historical average in March after rising sharply in previous months. Still, Marple expects a further catch-up effect for the adverse weather could boost payroll gains in April and May as well. This article is from appeared hosted.ap.org by Kristen Wyatt Three-fourths of Americans say it's inevitable that marijuana will be legal for recreational use across the nation, whether they support such policies or not, according to a public opinion poll released Wednesday that highlights shifting attitudes following the drug war era and tough-on-crime legislation. The Pew Research Center survey also shows increased support for ending mandatory minimum prison sentences for non-violent drug offenders and doing away altogether with jail time for small amounts of marijuana. The opinions come as public debate on these topics has led lawmakers around the nation to consider policy changes. Since California became the first state to legalize medical marijuana in 1996, at least 19 others and the District of Columbia have followed suit, including two that have approved recreational use. More than a dozen state legislatures considered legalization measures this year. Meanwhile, critics and political leaders, both liberal and conservative, have clamored for an end to harsh drug sentences, saying mandatory minimums have contributed to prison overcrowding, civil rights violations and strained budgets. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has been pushing Congress to overhaul drug sentencing policies. The telephone survey found that 75 percent of respondents - including majorities of both supporters and opponents of legal marijuana - think that the sale and use of pot eventually will be legal nationwide. It was the first time that question had been asked, but it reflects a gradual trend of acceptance. The survey indicates that four years ago, 52 percent of respondents said they thought the use of marijuana should not be legal, while 41 percent said it should. The new poll shows a reversal with 54 percent in favor of legalization and 42 percent opposed. It marked a turning point in a gap that has been shrinking fairly steadily since 1969, the earliest data available, when 84 percent said pot should be illegal and only 12 percent thought otherwise. "Pot just doesn't seem as bad," said Gregory Carlson, a 52-year-old landscaper from Denver who did not participate in the Pew survey. "You don't see anything about someone smoking a joint and then driving the wrong way into a school bus," Carlson said. With a chuckle, he added Wednesday, "They just drive slower." The survey also highlighted a dramatic shift in attitudes on drug conviction penalties. The survey was about evenly divided in 2001 on whether it was good or bad for states to move away from mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent drug offenders. Today, poll respondents favored moving away from such policies by a nearly 2-to-1 margin, or 63 percent to 32 percent. Respondents said by a margin greater than 3-to-1 that people who use small amounts of pot shouldn't go to jail. "Even people who don't favor the legalization of marijuana think the possession of small amounts shouldn't result in jail time," said Carroll Doherty, Pew's Director of Political Research. The nation thought differently a generation ago. Congress passed the Anti-Drug Abuse Act in 1986 to set mandatory minimum sentences for federal drug crimes that could end up in life sentences for repeat offenders. Years later, many states reported prisons bursting at the seams, prompting public officials to start abandoning "lock 'em up" drug policies in the 1990s. The trend has since accelerated. Last month, Holder testified in support of proposed sentence reductions in an effort to reserve the "the harshest penalties for the most serious drug offenders." Such plans, including one drafted by Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul, that would give judges wider discretion in sentencing have picked up support from both Republicans and Democrats. The poll suggested that, despite shifting attitudes on legalization, the public remains concerned about drug abuse, with 32 percent of those surveyed calling it a crisis and 55 percent of respondents viewing it as a serious national problem. And a narrow majority, 54 percent, said marijuana legalization would lead to more underage people trying it.
Marijuana legalization opponents, however, said the public isn't sold yet on legal pot. Kevin Sabet, co-founder of Smart Approaches to Marijuana, which opposes pot legalization, pointed to the fact that 63 percent said it would bother them if people used marijuana openly in their neighborhood. "Saying that we don't want people to serve prison time for marijuana is very different from saying I want a pot shop in my neighborhood selling cookies and candies and putting coupons in the paper," Sabet said. The poll of 1,821 adults was conducted Feb. 14-23. The survey had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.6 percentage points.
