The African First Ladies summit goal is to empower women in African nations, and throughout the world. This summit took place last July. Building on the leadership and commitment of President and Mrs. Bush in Africa, the George W. Bush Institute, in partnership with ExxonMobil, is convening an African First Ladies Summit, Investing in Women: Strengthening Africa. The Summit emphasizes effective investments in women that lead to greater stability and prosperity in countries. Investing in Women: Strengthening Africa highlights the critical role First Ladies play as advocates for women and girls, spotlights success stories and best practices, and discusses public-private partnerships that lead to sustainable results.
