Help Schools Go SolarIt's time to start making the most of the clean energy all around us. And what better place to begin than by helping our schools put up solar panels. With solar panels the typical school could save up to £8,000 per year on its energy bills. This means more money to spend on the things that make a difference to children - books, supplies and activities. But Government rules stop schools accessing some of the best solar schemes. The man in charge of English schools, Education Secretary Michael Gove, can change all that. Here is the letter;
Dear Michael Gove, Making it easy for schools to put up solar panels should be a no brainer. With solar panels the typical school could save up to £8,000 per year on its energy bills - meaning more money to spend on books, supplies and activities. Many schools also have large roofs that could provide plenty of solar power, making the most of the clean energy all around us. But current Government rules stop schools accessing many of the best solar schemes. As a result, for large numbers of schools solar panels remain unaffordable. Click here to sign the petition
